Rodeo Attire

We went to The Famous Preston Rodeo this weekend! (I’ve never missed a year in my life) It was tons of fun to see our family and friends that live up there. But of course I had to have something fun to wear this year J
White T-Shirt: Target $8
Plaid shirt: Target $18
Necklace: Bauble Bar $44
Skinny Jeans: Citizens of Humanity $99 (typically $198!) via JMR. Plenty of places carry different designers and eventually mark them down like these that I got for 50% off so I would recommend looking around before buying designer jeans!
Cowgirl boots: Old from Texas (my mom bought these for me when we were living in Dallas and I’ve had them forever!) You will want to spend some good money on boots if you plan on wearing them a lot. Like I said I’ve had mine for probably over 10 years and they are awesome! Similar here.
Rose gold watch: Michael Korrs $250

Pink and Leopard+Skinny Jeans

I found this top via Pintrest awhile back and feel in love so I ordered it. Just a few things to note. It felt like it took forever to come in the mail but it did finally arrive. Also it had shoulder pads-WTF?!? So I cut those out immediately. Other than that I love this top. Super comfortable and light to wear in the summer. I’m thinking blazer in the fall?

Pink/Leopard top: Sheinside $30
Skinny Jeans: Citizens of Humanity $99 (typically $198!) via JMR. I love designer jeans but hate their prices. I think they are worth spending a little more because they tend to wear better and last longer but I never pay full price. Plenty of places carry different designers and eventually mark them down like these that I got for 50% off!
Black Wedges: Steve Madden via DSW $35 similar here
Bag: Steve Madden $90 I got this bag on a recent trip my hubby and I took down to Vegas. I sat in the Steve Madden store debating which color/style to get for over an hour. My husband had the nerve to suggest we go look at Dillard’s (Nordstrom’s didn’t have any). I told him he was crazy and I wouldn’t buy anything from Dillard’s (since I hadn’t been in there forever). Turns out they had the color I wanted and it was even $10 cheaper J Hubby was right and he likes to remind me every time I wear this bag but its ok because I love it!
Rose gold watch: Michael Korrs $250
Rose gold bracelets: Target $15

Pleats and Floral Skirts

I like that I found this old skirt in the back of my closet but since pleats and floral’ s are a big thing right now, it was like finding a new skirt!
Necklace: Bauble Bar $44 (a little spendy but I get tons of compliments when I wear this and it goes with so much dressed up or down)
Black T-shirt: Target $8

Black heels: Nordstrom’s Enzo Angiolini $100 but on sale now for $67! Sad I just bought these less than a month ago and now they are cheaper but still love them. Much more comfortable than they look!

Neutral Stripes and Red Pops

I love the neutral colors and the pop of red. Seriously invest in a good pair of red shoes. I’ve had these for 4+ years and they are amazingly comfortable and durable.
Brown/white striped top: Target $15 different color but similar style here
Black braided belt: old but can be found similar here
White skinny jeans: Marshalls $14 I have a boot cut white jean but love these skinny jeans since they can work better with riding boots into the fall. Similar here

Maxi Skirts and J Crew Look A-Like Necklace

Maxi’s are super comfy and easy to wear. They also come in every price imaginable. Paired with simple flip flops and a t-shirt it would be too beachy but by adding a statement necklace, jewlery and possibly switching to wedges, it makes it super cute!
Necklace: My cousin in laws Etsy shop sells these in every color!
White t-shirt: Target $8 here
Leopard belt: Target $16 similar here

Rose Gold Watch: Michael Kors $250 **This was an investment and note of warning, the rose gold wears off so I would buy it from Nordstroms since they have been really amazing at swapping mine out when it starts to look bad.
Blue Maxi: Target $10 on sale similar style here
Flip flops with gold accent: Target $15 (old) similar here just in black

Why...

So I've debated doing a fashion blog for quite some time now.  While I love fashion I don’t consider myself an expert by any means but I have been told by multiple friends and family members I should do it and share my tips on looking good and feeling good about what you spend. I love fashion and following all the new trends but also can’t afford to spend $900+ on a pair of shoes, I have a house mortgage I have to make every month so I have to opt for something a little more in my own budget reality. I also don't like looking cheap though.

I’m a firm believer in spending money on “investment” pieces that you’re going to wear 100+ times. Good quality pair of work pants, jeans, watches, etc. For instance one of my favorite pieces of jewelry is my Michael Kors Rose Gold watch which costs $250 but considering I wear it probably 6 out of 7 days a week it’s more than paid for itself. You also have to consider that what works for my budget may not work for yours. What I may consider reasonably priced may be too much for someone else and what I consider expensive might be pennies to another.

I believe one of the most important things when I’m shopping is being practical and honest with myself. Am I going to wear this more than once or twice? Is it going to hold up or fall apart after one wash? Do I already have something that looks just like this? Is it comfortable enough for me to wear longer than 2 hours? Can I walk in these shoes? Can I afford it?  Is this a trend worth investing in or will it be "out" next season? That’s the hard thing I think about fashion blogs is that everyone’s style and situation is different. So this blog is what I’ve found has worked for me and I hope people can take different aspects of it and make it work into their situation for their lives.
